'To Post A Letter', read by Izzwan

To Post a Letter

Larry has a string around his finger.

"Why do you have that string around your finger?" I ask.

"Mother tied it here. She wants me to post a letter. She said, 'When you see the string, you'll think of the letter!'

"I see! Where's the letter?"

"Mother didn't give it to me. She forgot!"

'Shopping for Belts', read by Juzwan

Shopping for Belts

A smart young man went to a shop. "Show me some nice belts," he said. The salesgirl showed him many belts. "Not nice," said the man everytime. Suddenly he saw some belts in a corner.
"Now, that's what I want!" he said happily.
"But sir," said the salesgirl, "those are collars for dogs."

'At the Playground' by Brian Moses, read by Farrah Izzatul

At the Playground

When we went to the playground
I  swung on the swings,
I slid on the slide,
I hung from the rings.
I raced over to Mum
for a kiss and a cuddle,
but as we were leaving,
I fell in a puddle!

Reading Caught on Camera! - KM1M (4 November 2014)

On Tuesday (4th November 2014), we have Kempen Membaca 1Malaysia in school. It was organised by the school's library, and was happening all over Malaysia at the same time. We started reading at 10.00 a.m. Everyone gathered at the school hall and read for about 30 minutes. Then, we talked about the books that we have read in front of everybody. It was fun!

Reading caught on camera:

'Clap Your Hands' by Pam Gidney, read by Sazwani Suhailah

Clap Your Hands

Clap your hands
Above your head -
Wake up, wake up,
Sleepyhead.

Clap your hands
Behind your back.
Make a click
And then a clack.

Clap your hands
From side to side.
Hold your arms out
Very wide.

Clap hands fast
With your best friend.
Now our game
Is at an end!

Pam Gidney

'Kittie and Mousie' by Syeikh Hassan Seylan Abad, read by Siti Farhana

'The Flame of the Forest', read by Akmal

The Flame of the Forest

In January, I go to the park
I see a tree, a crooked green tree
It has no leaves
What an ugly tree!

In February, I go to the park
The ugly tree - is it on fire?
No, it's covered with flowers!
Read and orange flowers
It is called The Flame of the Forest
How beautiful it looks!

'Bonsai' read by Ahmad Fithri

Bonsai

How tall is a tree? About three metres? Well, some trees in Japan are only 30 centimetres tall! The Japanese call these short trees 'bonsai.' They grow them in small flat pots. They cut the roots and the branches. So these trees never grow tall. In Japan, some bonsai have been with the family for 400 years.

'Sand Castle' by J. Patrick Lewis, read by Ahmad

Sand Castle

I built a house
One afternoon
With bucket, cup,
And fork and spoon,

Then scooped a shovel-
ful of shore
On top to add
The second floor.

But when the fingers
Of the sea
Reached up and waved
A wave to me,

It tumbled down
Like dominoes
And disappeared
Between my toes.

'Woodpecker' by Brenda Williams, read by Elia

Woodpecker

Woodpecker, woodpecker
Tapping at the tree
Woodpecker, woodpecker
Can't you see?
Woodpecker, woodpecker
You can't win
You can knock all day
But there's no one in!

'The Sandwich' by Tony Bradman, read by Teacher Ann

The Sandwich

Oh what shall I have
Today for my tea?
I know - a sandwich,
As big as can be!

I'll start with the bread,
Two slices, quite large;
Then slap on some jam,
Oh yes, and some marge,

I'll put in some cheese,
A tomato or two,
And maybe an onion
This big one will do!

I'll bung in some lettuce,
A radish, of course,
And...a sizzling burger,
All covered in sauce!

Add in some chicken,
And maybe some chips,
Some biscuits, an apple,
A packet of crisps,

A cake with some candles,
Some chocolate (one bar),
Spaghetti, bananas,
Sweets from a jar,

Baked beans and humbugs,
Carrots and mustard,
All topped off with cream
And steaming hot custard...

Now a sandwich like that
You really can't beat,
It's packed out with goodies,
A real tasty treat.

There's only one problem;
It's breaking my heart...
It's such a big sandwich -
Where do I start?
